War of 1812 - Declaration for Pension. Hendricks, Indiana. On this 12th day of May A.D. 1871 personally appeared before me Nicholas T. Hadley, Clerk of a Court of Record within and for the County and State aforesaid, Samuel White, now aged 80˝ years, a resident of Clayton P.O., in the County of Hendricks, and State of Indiana, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is married, that his wife's name was Dorcas Tudor, to whom he was married at Highland Co. Ohio, on the 18th day of September, 1810, that he served the full period of sixty days in the Military service of the United States in the war of 1812, that he is the identical Samuel White who was drafted in Captain William Kilgores Company, of Col McDaniel's Regiment, of the Ohio Vols Brigade, at Ross County in the State of Ohio, on the (blank) day of July, 1812, and was honorably discharged at Ross Co. Buckskin Township Ohio, on the (blank) day of (blank) 1814; that he was first drafted, and then volunteered.  He was a Corporal and was in duty with Regiment guarding the Indian Frontier at Sandusky River, and Upper Sandusky Fort. He served after volunteering, until the close of the war, then he marched home with Gen'l Harrison and was discharged in his own County.  He has had a Land Warrant. He hereby appoints John G. Greenawalt, Adjt Gen'l of Indianapolis, Indiana, his true and lawful attorney, to prosecute his claim and obtain the Pension Certificate that may be issued.  That his postoffice address is Clayton, County of Hendricks and State of Indiana, and his domicile or place of abode is near said place. War of 1812.  Declaration for pension under Act of February 14, 1871. State of Indiana, County of Hendricks. On this 17th day of April, A.D., 1876 personally appeared before me Lotan W. Jenkins, Clerk of the Circuit Court a court record within and for the county and State aforesaid, Samuel White, aged 85 years, a resident of Clayton, county of Hendricks, State of Indiana, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is married: that his wife's name was Elizabeth Knighten, to whom he was married at Clay County, Indiana on the 18 day of February, 1851, that he served the full period of sixty days in the Military service of the United States in the war of 1812; that he is the identical Samuel White who was drafted for forty days service, a Corporal in Captain William Kilgore's company at Ross County Ohio on the (blank)day of July, 1813, and was honorably discharged at Ross County Ohio, on the 5th day of September, 1813; that after being drafted for forty days, we were sent to Upper Sandusky and built the fort at that place, and were kept twenty days as a volunteer after the expiration of the forty days and with the understanding and promise from Governor Meigs that this service should be a credit to us for six months service.  He appoints Amos S. Wills of Clayton, his true and lawful attorney to prosecute his claim, that his post office address is Clayton, county of Hendricks, State of Indiana and his domicile or place of abode is near two miles South of said post office. War of 1812 - Declaration for Pension. Hendricks, Indiana. State of Indiana. County of Hendricks. On this 22 day of July, A.D. 1878, personally appeared before me, a Notary Public, the same being a Court of Record within and for the county and State aforesaid,  Samuel White aged 87 years, a resident of Clayton, in the County of Hendricks, in the State of Indiana, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical  Samuel White, who served under the name of Samuel White as a private in the company commanded by Captain Wm. Kilgores Company in the regiment of Ohio Mil. in the war of 1812, that he was drafted at or near Chilicothe OH on or about the 28th day of July, A.D. 1812 for the term of (blank) and continued in actual service in said war for the term of at least 40 days, and was honorably discharged in Ross County Ohio, on the (blank) day of September, A.D. 1813.  That since his discharge from said service he has resided as follows, viz: He lived in Ross County Ohio twenty two years and since then he has lived in Hendricks County Indiana. The following was his description at the time of his enlistment, viz: age 22 years, (the next two words too faint to read), born in Forquein Co. VA (the county is very faint, but definitely begins with F,  probably Fauquier Co. VA).   Height 5ft 8in (next word is faint), hair light, eyes blue. He as heretofore made an application for Bounty Land and received a Land Warrant. Also applied for Pension under act of Feb'y 14, 1871, claim No. 16278, filed Aug 14, 1871, and rejected as he had but served 40 days and that his residence is Clayton P.O., county of Hendricks, State of Indiana. I hereby certify that by reason of age and infirmity I am not able to go from home to fill out my pension claim (next two words faint) this and consequently have had the Notary public to come to my house for that purpose this the 22nd day of July 1878.
