Mrs. Thomas Barker In apparent good health up to Thursday night, the death of Mrs. Mary C. Barker came suddenly at two this morning at the Barker home, 115 Clark street. Members of the family are almost prostrated by the shock. Mrs. Barker had been in her usual health Thursday, even busy with the weekly family ironing. She did not complain of any illness, although in past weeks she had been afflicted with slight attacks of heart trouble. The passing came quietly. Her maiden name was Mary Cochran. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Cochran and was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, January 29, 1833. She married Thomas K. Barker February 1, 1856. To them were born seven children, five of whom survive. They are James M., Morton F. and Ferrington M. Barker, all of this city except James, who resides in Denver, Colo. Daughter are Ida M. and Lillie of this city. A brother is James Cochran of San Francisco. The funeral will be Monday. Short services will be held at the residence, the cortege leaving at ten for Pleasant Grove, interment to follow at Greenwood. Mrs. Barker many years was a member of the United Brethren church. Additional Comments: [Transcriber’s note: Mary was also the sister of Jacob Cochran (1823-1894) of Huntington and Grant Counties. Penny S.
