SEYMOUR.
An enterprising town in Jackson county, at the crossing of the Ohio &
Mississippi, and the Jeffersonville, Madison & Indianapolis railroads. It is
surrounded by a rich agricultural country, and has increased quite rapidly
within the last few years, and now has a population of 3000. It has several
churches, a large woolen mill, with the usual complement of trades and
professions. The Ohio & Mississippi railroad has extensive machine shops here,
which give employment to a large number of hands.
