Goble born 20 Sep 1830 in North Carolina died 17 Apr 1887 in Salt Creek Twp, Jackson Co, IN Seymour Democrat published 21 Apr 1887 GOBLE, John W. – Died at his home near Houston, Sun., April 17, of cancer of the stomach, John W. Goble, aged nearly 58 years. He was born in North Carolina, Sept. 20, 1830. His parents removed to this county when he was 6 weeks old, and he had always lived in the Houston neighborhood. In 1850 he married Miss Tabitha Cummings, who survives. He leaves 3 sons and 3 daughters, all married except Asbury and Edward. In 1864 he was elected justice of the peace, which office he filled with honor during the remainder of his life. He carried the mail from Elkinsville to Brownstown for 8 years. He was recently engaged in carrying mail from here to Pike’s Peak. His occupations were miller, farmer and stone mason. He was buried Monday in the Thompson cemetery. He was a son of Adam Goble, of this place, who came to this township from North Carolina.
