Pearl Lewis was born December 8, 1881, in Grassy Fork township, Jackson county, Indiana, and died March 18, 1908, aged 26 years, 3 months and 10 days. From her infancy she was an exceptionally bright, beautiful and lovable child, always kind and obedient to her parents. She leaves surviving her a husband, a mother and two brothers – George W. Lewis, of North Vernon, Indiana, and Elmer Lewis, of Hettinger, South Dakota – and she also leaves a multitude of loving friends. When about sixteen years of age she united with the Baptist church at Mount Pleasant, in Grassy Fork township, and lived a faithful, consistent, christian life to the date of her death. On the 14th day of August, 1905, she united in marriage to Chester Ray Prince. Her sympathetic nature, happy and cheerful disposition, her kind and christian character went far to make their union a most happy and ideal one. She at no time lost sight of the welfare of her home and her husband. But a few days after being stricken with a deadly fever, she became certain of the fact that she must pass to the beyond and she called her husband to her and affectionately put her arms around his neck and informed him that she must be taken away and tearfully begged him to live such a life that he might meet her in Heaven. This in brief is the history one of God’s choicest flowers sent to beautify and brighten the pathway of all who knew her and we feel that her life was a most beautiful lesson to all who knew her. The deceased was laid to rest in the Russell Chapel cemetery Friday, March 20, 1908.
