Mr. Richards was the son of Joel and Catherine Richards and was born in Hamilton township, where he resided until eight years ago when he moved to Johnson county. Surviving besides the widow is one son, Ewing, and two grandchildren at home; three brothers, William, of Amity; Ellsworth, of Nebraska, and Dr. Hayden Richards, of Vincennes, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Marshall and Mrs. Hettie Gowdy, both of Arkansas. He was a member of the Cortland Knights of Pythias lodge. Funeral services were conducted at the Cortland church Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, the Rev J. H. Horton officiating. Burial in the Robertson cemetery.
