Uncle Andrew was b. near Pattier Garden, Kentucky. At the age of 12 he was left an orphan. He soon after went to Louisville & entered as an apprentice in a blacksmith shop. He set up a blacksmith shop in New Albany & followed the trade there for a short time, moving to Lawrence Co in 1928. Soon afterwards he m. Eliza Cummings, who survives him. Their union was blessed with 9 boys & 3 girls, all living but one girl and 2 boys. His grandchildren number 72 & his great-grandchildren number 89. In 1842 he moved to Jackson Co., locating on what is known as Bazil Hanner’s farm. He lived there 1 yr and returned to Lawrence Co., purchasing a farm 2 miles E. of Bedford. He sold out in 1845 & returned to Jackson Co., where he has since resided in the vicinity of Houston. His remains were taken to the Thompson cemetery, 1 mile S of town.
