He was born March 8, 1843; died July 6, 1919, aged 76 years, 3 months and 2 days. He was one of twelve children born to Andrew and Eliza Thompson, nine boys and three girls. Six of these sons served in the rebellion of ’61, only one of whom is now living, Wm. Daily, of Kurtz. Deceased was married March 14, 1867, to Leah Clark. To this union four children were born, three of whom are living, Mrs. Jane Lutes and Robert, of this place, and Wm. Sheridan, of Cortland. Besides the wife and children, there are ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren to mourn the loss. He united with the Christian church at this place several years ago and was always a faithful member of the same. He was the one that took the lead in memorial and decoration services generally carrying “Old Glory” himself. Who will take his place? Some of the returned veterans we hope. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. by Elder Due, of Seymour. Burial in the Houston cemetery.
