Thompson, whose death we mentioned last week, was the oldest daughter of Ira and Margaret Cornett. She was born in this county Jan. 30, 1843, and died at her home in Houston Dec. 12, 1920, aged 77 years, 10 months and 12 days. She was united in marriage to Charles w. Thompson April 7, 1859. to this union six children were born, four boys and two girls, three of whom, Mrs. Henry Lutes, Mrs. John M. Bowman and Walter W. Thompson, preceded her to the grave. Her surviving children are Hamlin F., Charles L., and David W. She is survived by fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; also two brothers, Sherman and William Cornett, of Kansas and one sister, Mrs. Rhoda Lane, of this place. She became a member of the M.E. church at this place in early life and remained so until death. Her life was been one of continuous service to her friends, especially to her grandchildren, who were left homeless while they were young. Funeral services were held Monday evening at the home conducted by Mrs. Ida Berry, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Huston cemetery by the side of her husband.
