Jefferson County - The Madison Courier chronicles the death of one of their well known citizens last Monday, Mr. Jonathan Eads, famous on the river to New Orleans as a flat boat pilot. He served in the Sixth Indiana Regiment during the 3 mos campaign in West VA, and afterward s in the same regiment for three years during the war. He was wounded in the battle of Stone's River Tennessee and being disabled from the effects of his injuries became a government pensioner, and continued to draw his well earned allowance up to the time of his death.
