Madison Courier, Jan 3, 1865
At his residence, in Shelby Township, Jefferson County Ind. On the 30th of 
December John Land aged 77 years. He was bornin Orange county Virginia. In 
1788 and at an early period in his life moved to Culpeper county Virginia. He 
lived ther until 19 years of age when he moved to Garrard County Ky. He 
married Nam]ncy Storms Sept 10th, 1822. There he lived until the Winter of 
1831 when he moved to Indiana in Shelby twp, Jeffoerson county where he died. 
His health had been good until 8 months ago when he was sorely afflicted and 
never left his room. He has 13 children who have grown to manhood and 
womanhood and all are living but one.He bore his afflictions with Christian 
patience and fortitude.
