D. 1837 Be it remembered that on the first Juridical Day of the Term of aforesaid personally appeared in open court Samuel Goodnow, James Crozier and Nathaniel Rector who having been duly sworn, depose and say, that they saw Richard Loring, late of Jefferson County, deceased, sign and seal the following paper, towit: Know all men by these presents that I Richard Loring or Jefferson County & State of Indiana, believing my dissolution to be near, but being never the less of sound memory & retaining my mental facilities unimpaired do in the fear of God ordain this as my last will and testament, viz; I bequeath to my wife Cynthia Loring the farm on which I now reside during her natural life it being necessary for the support of herself & children, I give & bequeath to my three oldest children, Eleanor Loring, Mary Ann Suttles, & Permela Loring each the sum of twenty dollars to be paid within three years after my decease if it can be conveniently paid they are to wait until a final settlement of the estate be made & share equally with my other children. All claims against my Estate are to be paid as soon as may be convenient & to raise the means my executors are empowered to sell so much of my personal property as may be necessary. The residue of my estate at the decease of my wife is to be equally divided among my other children, viz; Richard Franklin Loring, Ruth Loring, Charles Loring, Daniel Loring, David Loring, James Samuel Loring, Nathaniel Loring, Jane Loring & Larkin Loring. I appoint my wife Cynthia Loring & James Rector Executors of this my last will & Testament. In testimony whereas, I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 20th of April 1837. Richard Loring {Seal} In presence of Saml. Goodnow, James Crozier, Nathaniel Rector. As this Last will and testament, and that they the said Samuel Goodnow, James Crozier and Nathaniel Rector, subscribed the same in the presence of the Said Loring and at his request. These deponents further say that they verily believe, the said Loring was at the time he made and executed the paper aforesaid as his last will and testament of sound mind and capable of disposing of his property, by will, and further say not.
