Brown’s Company (D) of the Sixty-Seventh Regiment of Ind. Inf. Vols. Was enlisted by Lieut. A. H. Abbett of the Sixty-Seventh Regiment of Ind. Vols at Columbus, Ind. On the Eleventh day of August, 1862, to serve 3 years; he was born in Harper’s Ferry in the State of Virginia, is Sixty four years of age, 5 feet 8 1/2 inches high, Dark complexion, grey eyes Dark hair, and by occupation when enlisted a mason. During the last two months said soldier has been unfit for duty 60 days. This soldier is in my opinion suffering from partial paralysis which deprived him of sleep or rest at night which together with his age (64 yrs) and the hardships undergone since entering the service render him unfit to perform the duties of a soldier, is also in my opinion unfit for the Invalid Corp. Station: Morganza, La. Date: December 18, 1864 H. L. Brown 2nd Lieut. I certify that I have examined the said John Fisher Private of Lt. H. L. Brown’s Company and find him incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of old age being sixty-four years old disability [as stated?]. He is in my opinion unfit for service in Veteran Reserve Corps. Is broken down & wholly unfit service of any kind. Chas. S.
