State of Indiana, Johnson County } .....appeared GEORGE McCLANE and MOSES McCLAIN both credible witnesses... say that JACOB McCLAINE now a resident of said county and State, was a private in Captain WILLIAM M. RICE's company, in a Regiment of Light horsemen volunteers... commanded by Collonel RICHARD M. JOHNSON...said JACOB McLAINE was mustered into the service of the United States at New Port in the State of Kentucky... in the month of May in the year 1813 to serve for the term of six month.... said JACOB McLAINE while in said service and in the line and discharge of his duty, was on or about the 5th day of October in the said year at the battle of the Thames in Upper Canada, wounded in the right side of the breast by a rifle ball shot by the enemy during said battle. ...said JACOB McLAINE was shortly after said battle honorably discharged... said JACOB McLAINE by reason of said wound so by him received as above stated has been ever since he received the same and still is disabled two thirds in obtaining a living or maintaining himself..... towit GEORGE McCLANE was a private in said company and regiment and that they were both well acquainted with said JACOB McLAINE before and at the time of his enlisting in said service and that they have lived near him and in the same neighbourhood with him for the last thirty years. ....say that there are none of the commissioned officers of said company now living except JOSEPH THOMAS who was 1st Lieutenant deponents state that said Lieut. Departments.... for an Invalid Pension, and for a Bounty Land Wawrrant... states that she was married to the said JACOB McCLAIN in Trimble County, Kentucky, on or about the 23d day of August A.D. 1837 by one John Gillespie, a Minister of the Gospel.
