Vincennes Capital, Nov. 17, 1908
Extracted from the Josiah V. Thompson Journals
James M. Rodarmel, a pioneer citizen, worked in his cornfield all day Monday, 
Nov 9th, although 78 yrs of age, doing a young man's work & died Monday night, 
shortly after midnight at his home in Johnson Tp after an illness of just one 
week. Eleven children & many grandchildren were home when he died, he having 
called them home two days before he died, directing them to remain until he 
died. He left eleven children:
1. Fannie Fairhurst (Farris) wife of Isaac of Patoka, Ind
2. John Rodarmel, Vincennes Tp
3. Marshall Rodarmel, Harrison Tp
4. Minnie McCormick, wife of Edward, Lower Vincennes Tp
5. Mary Westfall, wife of Shff Westfall of this city.
6. Dora Russell, wife of Willis of Palmyra Tp
7. Charles Rodarmel, of Harrison Tp
8. Lillie Donovan, wife of Lyman of Johnson Tp
9. Lulu Slow, wife of Thomas of Johnson Tp
10. Harriet Rodarmel 
11. Anna G., widow of John Smith
He husked corn all day, hauled a load or two to Pea's on Saturday, was nervous 
Monday night & took a chill which ran into pneumonia.
