Miller, which took place the 17th of this month, the community lost one of its substantial farmers and a splendid gentleman. He was the father of a large family of sons and daughters who are among the best farmers we have. The death of Mr. Miller was caused by Bright's disease and stomach trouble, the death certificate stating he having suffered from this for the past two years. In the brief notice of his death last week the paper had been misinformed as to his being a devotee of Christian Science, though the death certificate also stated that. He was a member of the Church of God, which church believes that Christ heals. In other words Mr. Miller believed in Divine Healing, and for that reason had no physician. He had until some years ago been a believer in Christian Science, but E. Welch informs us he had renounced this. Mr. Miller died while sitting in his chair and passed away peacefully and with the assurance in his heart that he was destined to dwell with the savior. He was born in Ohio April 8th, 1840, and had been a resident of the community in which his last days had been spent for several years. When he died he was 68 years, 7 months and 9 days of age. The funeral services were held at Sand Ridge, Nov 20th, and the remains buried there. The following obituary was read at the church: John D. Miller was born April 8th 1840, in Richland County, Ohio and died Nov 17th 1908 at his home near Bourbon, Ind. He came with his parents to this state in 1852 and was married to Elizabeth Hepler in 1865. She preceded him to the spirit world, March 30 1897. To that union were born 9 children - four sons and 5 daughters who with the exception of one infant son, survive him. Bro. Miller, in his religious life passed through varied experiences some of which were not satisfactory to himself or others. But about 15 years ago he embraced the faith of the Gospel as taught by the ministers of the Church of God, in this present reformation which faith he held until death. While Bro. Miller did not at all times enjoy all that grace affords, he in later years through the grace of God conquered the adversary and died triumphant in the faith. We weep not as those who have no hope, but our loss is his eternal gain. The funeral services were conducted by Bro Otto Bolds of Anderson, assisted by Bro. S. P. Strang.
