Lake Co. IN Obit The The Hammond Times Nov. 5, 1940 Mrs. Bunde, 69, Dies; Rites Fri. Hammond Woman Operated Grocery Store with Husband 20 Years Mrs. Bertha Bunde, 69, of 919 150th street, Hammond, dies today in St. Margaret's Hospital. She underwent a major operation during 2 weeks of illness. She and her husband, August, operated a grocery store and meat market at Jesse Avenue and State Street for 20 years before he entered the employment of the New York Central Railroad. He retired after 25 years of service with the railroad. Mrs. Bunde's sisiter died in Chicago three weeks ago. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2p.m. in the Neidow Chapel. Rev. Thomas Hueston will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetary. Surviving are her husband: six daughters, Miss Ruth Bunde, and Mrs. S. Nunn of Hammond, Mrs. F. Deemer and Mrs. F. Hixon of Gary and Mrs. J. Szarkowski: and Mrs. N. Nixon of Columbus, Ohio, two sons, George and Edwin of Hammond, two sisters, Miss M. Boldt and Mrs. F.
