MRS. BURKE, 81, DIES IN HOSPITAL
Mother of Mrs. Trimble: Ill Several Months
Mrs. Emma P. Burke, 81, of 1017 144th street, East Chicago, died 
yesterday in St. Catherine's hospital.
Surviving are her husband, James: five daughters, Mrs. Clara Trimble, 
with whome she resided, Mrs. Lillie Goyings of Detroit, Mich, Mrs. 
Rose Laymon of Hammond, Mrs. Della Schmoker of Whiting and Miss Emma 
Burke of Fort Wayne, Mich.: 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 
one great great grandson, two sisters, Mrs. Rachael Vedstaid of Chicago, 
and Mrs. Francis Wells of Hot Springs, Ark.,  and a brother, Chester 
Gardner of Whiting.
Mrs. Burke succumbed after a long illness. She was born in Valparaiso 
in 1861 and resided in Lake county all her life.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday in Fife's chapel with 
Rev. Harris of the Baptist church of East Chicago officiating. Burial 
will follow in Elmwood cemetery, Hammond
