Martha Jane Huish obit Obituary of Martha Jane Huish--(6/27/1930) Death of Mrs. Huish Indiana Harbor lost one of its earliest settlers and a highly respected citizen last night in the death of Mrs. M. J. Huish, widow of the late William Hyde Huish, who passed away at the family home at 3511 Grand boulevard, after a long suffering with a heart ailment. Mrs. Huish was born in Wales on January 27, 1865, and came to Indiana Harbor with her husband who was one of the first foremen in the Inland Steel Company plant and later at the Buffington cement plant. Before her final illness Mrs. Huish had been very active in affairs in Indiana Harbor and was one of the founding members of the First Baptist Church of this city, and it's first organized service was read in the parlor of her home. She had a host of friends among the young people of the community and was very active in the Welsh societies of the district in which she was much interested. All of her nine children, excepting Ben who was unable to arrive in time from Alton Illinois, were at her bedside at death. They are Earl of Salt Lake City Utah, and Mrs. Alma Whiteman, Mrs. Blanche Ellis, Miss Mary, Miss Margaretta, George, William and Eugene, all of Indiana Harbor. Funeral services will be held from the home on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with burial at the family plot in Ridgelawn cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
