Keilman, 54, of 6134 Ray St., Hammond, longtime Legionnaire who died Saturday night of heart ailment. Keilman, manager of the Keilman Ice Cream Co., was one of the leaders in the efforts that brought a new building for the American Legion Post 16 at 6644 Calumet Ave. Until he became too ill to work about two years ago, he also managed the Legion post. He was a member of Lake County Voiture 40 and 8, and a veteran of World War I. An Oldtimer in the precinct committeeman ranks of the Democratic Party, he was at one time the recreation director of the Lake County Juvenile Detention Home. he held various other county jobs. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home, Hohman Avenue and Warren Street under direcion of the American Legion. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Although born in Dyer, Keilman lived most of his life in Hammond. Survivors include the widow, Elvera; three sons; five step-sons; step father, Joseph Enders of Dyer; five sister; four brothers, and 12 grandchildren.
