He is survived by loving wife; loving son, Michael (unavailable) Mahns of Evergreen, Colorado; five loving daughters; three loving step-children; 27 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two brothers, William (unavailable) Mahns of Orland Park, Illinois and Unavailable (Unavailable) Mahns of Whiting, Indiana; two sister-in-laws, Patricia Mahns of Cedar Lake and Unavailable Mahns of Hammond; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by loving son, Robert, brothers, Gerald and Donald and parents, Raymond and Elvera Mahns. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 18, 1995, 9:30 a.m. at the Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, Indiana. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church in Munster with Msgr. Carl Mengeling celebrating the Mass. Burial, private. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 5 to 9 p.m. with the Holy Rosary prayed at 8 p.m. Mr. Mahns was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy and retired after 44 years of service with NIPSCO as manager of Gas Operation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul society at St. Thomas More Church or for holy masses in his memory would be appreciated.
