Gerald R. Mahns, age 58 of Hammond, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 1990.  
Mr. Mahns is survived by his wife; two sons; two daughters; two 
granddaughters; his mother, Elvera Keilman of Hammond; three brothers, Robert 
(Unavailable) Mahns of Munster, William (Unavailable) Mahns of Orland Park, 
Illinois and Mahns of Whiting.  Preceded in death by his son Dale, daughter, 
Joyce Ann, and brother, Don.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 9:30 a.,. from the 
Solan Funeral Home, 7109 Calumet Ave., Hammond, to St. John Bosco Church for 
10 a.m. Mass with the Rev. Stanley Dominik Celebrant.  Burial will take place 
at St. John Cemetery Mausoleum.  Visitation on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 
p.m.  Rosary on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Mahns was a lifelong resident of Hammond; he is a Captain with the Hammond 
Fire Fighters, where he has served for 25 years; he also is President of the 
Firemen't Union Local #556
