VETERAN Henry B. Smith Passes Away on trip to Crown Point   The death of Henry B. Smtih, a former resident of Crown Point and probably better known in this community as "Sandy", occurred on Sunday afternoon, the end coming as he was making a trip from Gary to Crown Point.   Upon reaching this city Mr. Smith expired in the automobile in which he and his Wife were riding, heart failure and results of feeble health for some time being the cause.   The deceased was a civil war veteran, and nearly 85 years of age , had expressed a desire to end his last days in Crown Point, where he had resided the greater portion of his life, and in order to gratify the wish of his declining days, the family were moving to Crown Point at the time of his death.   Mr.  Smith fought during the many engagements of the civil war with distinction and was one of the few surviving members of the local G.A.R.  post.  For a number of years he has resided with his wife and sons at Gary, Ind.   The funeral services were held on Wednesday morning at the Free Methodist church, members of the Fred Schmidt Post, American Legion, having charge of the funeral arriangements   The remains of the aged and respected soldier were laid to rest at Maplewood Cemetery.   ------------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
