All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarch.org/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarch.org/in/infiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Telf beverlyjo@aol.com May 6, 2008, 6:55 am Elwood Call Leader, 16 Sep 1916 JOHN HENRY MYRLEY FELL DEAD IN ALLEY Walking from the Elwood restaurant on Main street where he had partaken of a hearty meal which he seemed to thoroughly enjoy, John Henry Myerley age 80 years, left the café by the rear door shortly before 2 o’clock this afternoon and fell dead just as he reached the alley. He appeared in his usual good health as he left the table but as he started for the door he seemed to be suddenly taken ill but as he was seen to stagger. He took but a few steps when he stumbled and fell and life had departed when those who were hurrying to his assistance reached his side. Dr. W. H. Hoppenrath who was quickly summoned found that the man was beyond help when he arrived, death having been due to apoplexy. The Clark ambulance was called and removed the remains to the undertaking parlors on South Anderson street and Coroner Stottlemyer from Anderson, who was summoned, will arrive later in the afternoon to conduct the required inquest. The deceased was a native of Maryland but had spent the greater part of his life in this and Tipton counties being widely known throughout the vicinity. He is survived by (five??) children: Mrs. Alice Moore, Mrs. (Frank??) Legg, Mrs. W. L. Abbott, (William ???) Myrley and Lemuel Myrley. Arrangements have been made for the funeral at the hour of our …..press.
