Shelley died at 11 o'clock last night at the home of her son, Carl Shelley, in North ANderson. Mrs. Shelley had been ill with consumption for the last four years and although her death was not unexpected, it will come as a shock to her many friends in this city. For the past four years Mrs. Shelley has suffered constantly and several weeks ago all hopes of her recovery were given up, and it was known that the end would come soon. Mrs. Shelley was born Feb. 6, 1843 and was almost 63 years of age at the time of her death. She was a native of Limasburg, O. In 1868 she was united in marriage to Frank Shelley and has lived in Anderson ever since. Mrs. Shelley has for many years been prominent in church work in this city, and in this way has endeared herself to hundreds of people. About ten years ago she was the regular pastor at the Church of God at the corner of Fourteenth and Brown streets and also held several other charges with that denomination. She is known to all for sincerity and for her strength of character. She leaves two children, Carl Shelley and MRs. George Hallis, of this city. As yet no arrangements have been made for the funeral.
