SOUTHPORT.

A village in Marion county, on the Jeffersonville, Madison & Indianapolis
railroad, six miles from Indianapolis. It was settled in 1848 and now has a
population of about 300, three churches, Masonic lodge, flouring mill, several
stores, shops, &c.
