The Franklin Democrat, Friday, December 16, 1898, Volume XXXIX, Number 23, page 3, column 1
“Uncle Jim” Jackson, 67, and known by almost every Southside citizen, was buried
from his late home, rear of 
224 Iowa St, Wednesday afternoon.  He weighed 340 pounds.  For over 30 years he was
a flagman at the 
Madison Ave. crossing of the J. M. & I. – Sun

Note:  The Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882-1920, referencing Book H-7, page 136,
records that James 
Jackson, a 67 year old white male, died 12 Dec 1898 in Indianapolis.
