On last Sunday morning, Virgil H. Johnson, living at 825 College Ave, Indianapolis, was run down by a Brightwood car at the intersection of Mass. Ave., Walnut and Liberty streets and crushed to death. Mr. Johnson was 25 years old and an expert bicycle trainer. He attempted to cross the tracks behind a moving car and failed to see the Brightwood car coming on the other side. The car was going so fast it could not stop in time to save the young man’s life, and ran completely over him, dragging him fully forty feet. One side of his head was crushed off and the wheels passed over his legs and body, killing him almost instantly. This should be a lesson of caution to our boys who frequently ride to the city and place their lives in jeopardy by carelessly crossing the tracks in front of moving cars.
