Mattie Robinson, a pretty young girl, age fifteen years, was shot and killed by her brother, Cecil Robinson, at 64 Jefferson Street, Indianapolis, at 6 o’clock, Saturday evening. It is the same old story of the "unloaded" revolver. Mrs. Elvira C. Robinson, widow of Andrew Robinson, lives at the above number with her children – Peter, Cecil and Mattie. The former is a stationary engineer at the water tank at the belt road. It is a lonesome place and he has always carried a revolver for protection. Saturday night he left the house for his work and forgot his revolver. His mother, finding it lying on the mantel, instructed her son Cecil to take it to him at once, at the same time asking Mattie to get it for him. Cecil was just leaving the dining room and in the doorway he met his sister who held the revolver in her hand. Cecil supposing the revolver to be empty, raised it in a playful manner to his sister's head and pulled the trigger. There was a blinding flash and without uttering a cry the girl fell face downward in the doorway and died in less than three minutes. Dr. C. B. Knerr was called in but was too late to be of any service. Deputy-coroner Dodds and the police were notified by telephone and were quickly on the scene but a favorable report was made and the boy was not placed under any charge.
