The son of Abraham Ellis Jr. (b. 1778, d. 1840) and Elizabeth (Riner) Ellis (b. 
1781-82, d. abt 1823).
His siblings were: John Ellis (b. abt 1802), Henry (b. abt 1804), Catherine 
Ellis (b. abt 1806), Elizabeth Ellis (b. abt 1810), Mary Ellis (b. abt 1812), 
Anna Ellis (b. abt 1814), Margaret Ellis (b. abt 1814) and Sarah "Sally" 
(Whitecotton, Harrison) Ellis (b. abt 1818, d. 1908). 
Married first to Sarah Stephens in Ohio. 
Then he was married to Mary (McCallister) Morris (b. 1823, d.1904) on June 23, 
1845.
Together they had: Francena (Guston) Ellis (b. 1846, d. 1925), William Hugh 
Ellis (b. 1848, d. 1920), John H Ellis (b.1851, d. 1926), Clementine (Humphrey) 
Ellis (b. 1852, d. 1907) & Lementine (Reason) Ellis (b. 1852, d. 1930) (twins), 
George Washington Ellis (b. 1855, d. 1910), Elizabeth R. (Lawson) Ellis (b. 
1858, d. 1940), Hugh Mc Ellis (b. 1860, d. 1939).
Peter was a farmer in Madison County, Indiana. Peter and Mary separated in 
their later years. Documents indicate that he was killed when his farm house 
burned.

Trying to find photos of Peter and Mary's children for a book on the Ellis 
Family.
