The deceased came to his death on the following manner. On Sabbath after a shower of rain, there being a leak in the roof of his house he was on the roof fixing it when the weight of the polls was precipitated to the ground and .... of the polls falling on him killed him instantly. 08/21/1879 - Rep - The wife of David SNYDER, West township died Tuesday. 01/23/1891 - John L. SNYDER of this city received a message from Summit County Ohio, Tuesday morning announcing the death of his father Joshua SNYDER, aged 86 years. 02/13/1891 - Rep - West Twp, J. R. SNYDER buried his baby Wednesday. It was sick but a few days. The funeral took place at the German Baptist Church. The relatives have the sympathy of all. 01/01/1892 - Rep - West Twp - Philip WHITESELL, who has lived with the THOMPSON family for thirty- six years, died Sunday. He was quite aged. 04/27/1893 - Solomon WHITESELL died of dropsy at his home in German Twp near the Knoblock school last Monday, aged about 60 years. The funeral took place Wed at St. John's Church by Rev. Philip Kenegar of Bremen and the remains interred in St. John's Cem. 02/01/1894 - Joseph Marion WHITESELL was born 19 May 1847, died 27 Jan 1894. He was born in Holmes Co Ohio and came to this state with his parents in 1856, settling in West township. He was married 15 Oct 1864 to Caroline LEARMAN. 04/25/1895 - Rep - Miss Mary WHITESELL, probably the oldest maiden in Marshall county died at the home of a brother in West township, seven miles west of this city, yesterday morning at an early hour. Deceased was 73 years of age. Her ailment was dropsy. 08/13/1903 - Dem - John SULLIVAN, aged 78 years, died at his home on West South street at 11:45 Saturday morning. Mr. SULLIVAN moved to this city a few weeks ago from Bourbon. The funeral was held Monday at 10 o'clock and the remains were taken to Bourbon for burial. 02/04/1904 - Julia HARVEY-BUNNELL was born in Cateragus County New York, Aug 15, 1819 and died in Kalamazoo Michigan Jan 31, 1904 aged 84 years 5 months 16 days. The deceased was widow of the late Anthony S. BUNNELL who preceded her in death 50 years ago. She was mother of nine children, four of whom, Mrs. W. S. PATTERSON and Mrs. B. F. WITMER of Kalamazoo Mich; Mrs. J. E. SHULTZ of Mich City and J. C. BUNNELL of this city survive her. 02/04/1904 - Plymouth Dem - James LIVINGHOUSE died at his home in Donaldson Thursday, Jan 28, age 48 years 5 months 24 days after suffering for over six years with pulmonary consumption. The deceased was born 4 Aug 1835 and spent the greater part of his life in this county. The funeral was held at Donaldson church at 2 p.m. Saturday. 08/08/1907 Dem - Rachel Ann FREET was born in Marshall County, In on June 11, 1872. She was married to Ira A. Anders of Inwood, on Sept. 26, 1892 and died July 29, 1907, aged 34 years 1 month and 18 days. She leaves a husband, six children, a father, mother, and other relatives. Her death occurred at Argos and funeral at the Methodist church in Inwood, conducted by Rev. A. J. Holderman. Interment at Hindel Cemetery. 01/16/1908 - Thursday - John H. PLETCHER of Tippecanoe township indicted at instigation of his son-in- law, Boyd BOYCE. PLETCHER is the father of BOYCE's wife, a girl barely seventeen years of age (Married last September to BOYCE). 01/30/1908 - John PLETCHER is a man 38 years and has lived in Marshall County for the past seven years coming from Wakarusa where he was born and reared. Father of two daughters one 17 and the other about 13 years of age. His father resides at Wakarusa and his mother is dead. He has a number of brothers at different places in northern Indiana. His brother, Samuel PLETCHER of Elkhart has been here the past week looking after the business of the prisoner. 02/13/1908 - Henry SNYDER, ex-county commissioner died Sunday at his home six miles southeast of Argos, aged 60 years. born in Starke county Ohio in 1847 and came with his parents to Germany township in 1848. Engaged in lumber business with his brother Benjamin SNYDER until 1879. Married to Caroline HUFF in 1878. 05/14/1908 - Bourbon Mirror - Oakland - Wm BOWMAN and family attended the funeral of Mrs. BOWMAN's father, Wm WHITSELL at Sandridge Sunday. 03/10/1910 - Paul SNYDER of West Twp was in Plymouth Friday to pay his taxes. He was 81 years old that day and concluded to celebrate by paying his taxes. Mr. SNYDER is one of the best preserved men for his years that we know of. 06/24/1913 - Dem - Death of Mrs ANDERS - Mrs. George ANDERS died at her home on East Williams Street Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. Besides a husband, she is survived by several grown children. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Elder Williams. The deceased was a faithful member of the Church of God. 06/26/1913 - Rep - Mrs. George W ANDERS died at her home on Williams Street Sunday morning at the age of sixty-eight years. She leaves a husband and several grown children. The funeral will be held at the home at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon with interment in Oak Hill cemetery. Elder J. Williams will have charge of the funeral services. 09/25/1913 - Dem - The body of John CANNAN was brought to this city from Logansport where he died last Saturday at the age of 33 years, and was shipped from here to Walkerton for burial. The body was accompanied by Mrs. CANAAN and other relatives. Frank CANNAN and Mrs. Gladys HARRIS of this city who were relatives, accompanied the remains to Walkerton. 10/09/1913 - Lionel C. SNYDER, 12 year old son of Mr and Mrs. John R. SNYDER, died at the home of his parents in Green township Friday evening, Oct 3. The funeral will be held Sunday, leaving the home at 12 o'clock. Service at the Dunkard church in West township at 2:30. 02/25/1915 - Bertha Geneva SULLIVAN, the nine months old daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert SULLIVAN of Green Township, died at five o'clock on Monday afternoon. The funeral was held at Mr. Pleasant, Dunkard church, east of Inwood, Wed. 06/10/1915 - Rep - The full account of the accidental shooting of Earl SNYDER was given in Friday's issue. The young man lived till a little after seven o'clock in the evening. All that could be done by the best of medical skill was tried, but there was no help for him, and he died from the effects of the gunshot wound. 07/13/1916 - Rep - The funeral of Albert WHITESELL, aged 1 year 6 months took place Monday at the church in Donaldson. He was the son of Daniel WHITESELL and had been ill for some time. 07/13/1916 - Rep - Robert, the infant son of Mr and Mrs Daniel WHITESELL, died at the home of his parents in Donaldson last Sat afternoon. The funeral was held at the U.B. church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Donaldson Cemetery. 11/23/1916 - George CANNAN died at the home of his son Edward on Charles street Monday night. He was past 73 years of age. His wife died about 15 years ago. Survivors: children Ed, Fred, Charles, Mrs. Robert SULLIVAN, Lewis and a daughter whose whereabouts are unknown. 08/30/1917 - Weekly Rep - Dan SNIDER, Bremen - Aug 29, aged 75 years died at his home in this town about noon Wed. He leaves a wife and several children. 09/06/1917 - Weekly Rep - Dan SNYDER, age 65 years, died at home in Bremen Wed after an illness of about 8 years of paralysis. Survivors: wife, son, George SNYDER and daughter Mrs. Eva STAHL both of Arizona. 11/22/1917 - Harry Perl WHITESELL was born in West Twp, Marshall Co, 24 Feb 1898 and died at his parents in Donaldson on 14 Nov 1917. Perl, as he was called, was the second son of Mr and Mrs John F. WHITESELL, a well known family of this community and an employee on the Pennsylvania railroad for many years. He was affected by what was known as pulmonary obstruction and often it was thought that the disease was overcome and for months he would appear to be quite well. A few weeks ago he was taken worse and continued to fail until Wed, Nov 14 when he quietly passed away. Survivors: father and mother, one brother, Chas E. WHITESELL of Plymouth, two sisters, Mrs. R. E. NELSON of South Whitley, and Mrs. W. M. ROBBINS of Plymouth, grandmother, Mrs. J. M. WHITESELL and grandfather, H. J. SMITH. 03/28/1918 - Adam SNYDER who has been an inmate of the county infirmary for the past 10 years died there Friday morning. He was born in 1847. 07/11/1918 - Rep - Mrs. Charles SELL The following account is taken from the North Port, Washington paper. Mrs. Sell was reared in Marshall County and has many relatives here. She lived here at the time of her marriage and was very well known and liked. Mrs. Charles SELL was taken to the smelter hospital on Saturday suffering with inflammation of kidneys caused by a fall a month or so ago. She was thought to be improving until Wednesday afternoon when a sudden change was noticed and she breathed her last a little later in the evening. Deceased was 38 years 5 months and 28 days old. She was married to Charles SELL at Plymouth in Jan. 27 1897 and came to North Port Washington, April 17 1911, and moved to their five mile creek ranch below town where they have lived ever since. Besides her husband she leaves ten children, as follows: Mrs. Sidney BUSBY and Mr. Sherman SELL (married) the rest being all at home. She also leaves her aged father, Mr. George W. ANDERS of near Inwood, Ind. and four brothers, Ira ANDERS of Elkhart, Ind, Fred ANDERS of Inwood, Ind, George ANDERS of Bourbon, Ind., and Frank ANDERS of Tippecanoe and two sisters Mrs. John R. SNYDER and Mrs. Ed CANNAN of Plymouth, Ind. Interment in Forest Home cemetery on Deep Creek. 04/13/1922 - Mrs. Elizabeth WHITESELL, aged 79 years, passed away at her home in Donaldson at nine o'clock Thursday evening. She took a severe cold which finally resulted in her death. She is survived by 4 children and one step-son. They are James LAWHORN, Daniel and Pete WHITESELL and Mrs. PENROSE. She has one sister and 4 brothers living - Mrs. George FOSS, Henry and Alfred SNYDER of Plymouth, John SNYDER of Mishawaka and Wash of Michigan. 07/27/1922 - The funeral of Esther Pauline WHITESELL the 4 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter WHITESELL residing 3 miles west of Donaldson will take place at the U.B. church in Donaldson at 2:00 Sunday afternoon. 11/14/1922 - FORMER HOME COUNTY PEOPLE KILLED BY TRAIN - George PLETCHER, Mr. and Mrs. Alva LOVE in crossing tragedy - Grover PLETCHER injured - Belated word reaches Plymouth of the accidental death of George PLETCHER and Mr. and Mrs. Alva LOVE and the serious injury of Grover PLETCHER, all former Marshall county people, in a crossing accident at Muskegon, MI, on Monday, Nov. 6. They were being driven in a taxi to the funeral of Mr. PLETCHER's mother at Sparta. Some freight cars blocked the view of the approaching passenger train and the taxi was hit squarely. Mr. PLETCHER and Mr. LOVE were killed instantly...Grover PLETCHER is still in a hospital and his recovery is expected though it is not assured....the funeral of George PLETCHER was held Sunday. Mrs. Harrison HATFIELD and Mr. and Mrs. Walter BECHTEL of near Bourbon attended the funeral... The Bremen Banner Bremen, Marshall County, IN 11/25/1886 - MUNCIE ITEM - Emerson and John PLETCHER, of Elkhart Co., visited with their brother, Sam, of this vicinity, last Saturday and Sunday. Bremen Enquirer Bremen, Marshall County, IN 01/05/1900 - Jacob PLETCHER, aged seventy-five years, residing three miles north and one mile east of Wakarusa, died very suddenly Friday morning at the home of his son Frank, falling dead while playing with his grandchildren, after having performed his morning's chores. His wife died several years ago. NOTE: This should be John PLETCHER not Jacob. Bourbon Mirror 02/05/1885 - Oliver SULLIVAN, the infant child of Mr and Mrs John SULLIVAN, who live north of Bourbon, died on Jan 29. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church at Foster Chapel on the day following. 08/20/1885 - Mrs. Lucy SULLIVAN died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. WATTS, Tuesday evening, aged about 96 years. 02/05/1891 - John SULLIVAN's dwelling house, six miles north-west of Bourbon, was consumed by fire Wednesday afternoon of last week, during the absence of the family. The contents except a feather bed, two pillows and two comforts, which Mr. William COLVIN pulled out at a window were also consumed. Loss estimated at $150. Mr. COLVIN next day kindly carried a paper asking subscriptions to enable the unfortunate man to rebuild. A large number subscribed and paid small sums from 25 cents to $5.00. 07/26/1900 - Sunday Mrs. Flora SULLIVAN received a telegram from Webb, Iowa announcing the death of Bert SULLIVAN by drowning. 07/09/1908 - Sarah SULLIVAN died 29 June 1908. This brief note reached this office last week. We take it this means the Mrs. John SULLIVAN, who formerly lived here.
