His illness was of less than twenty-four hours duration, he having been seized by a severe nervous chill the day prior. Mr. Shunk saw long and hard service in the War of the Rebellion. He had been a member of the Church of the Brethern for 38 years. He served one term as commissioner of Marshall county. He was the father of four children three of whom survive, John Allen, of East Chicago being one of them. The deceased was preceded by his companion only a few months, she having died in August last. Funeral services were held at Summit Chapel Friday conducted by Rev. Levi Puterbaugh of Argos and Elder Irvin Fisher of Mexico.
