He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Voreis, (deceased) who were among the early pioneers of Marshall county. He was united in marriage with Miss Rachel A. Marks January 26, 1871. To their union were born nine children, all but one of whom, with their mother, survive him. The deceased spent his early life on his father's farm and for many years after his marriage was a resident of Green township, having assumed charge of the old homestead from which he moved a few years ago to Hibbard, where he resided until death overtook him. He was a sufferer for a number of years prior to his death from heart disease and other ailments, which led directly to his death. He had a large acquaintance throughout this county, having been of a genial, good natured disposition and ever ready to extend the hand and hope to fellow man. The funeral was held at the Poplar Grove M.E. church, Sunday, April 20, at 12 o'clock, Rev. Austin officiating, and the remains laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
