Burkholder Passed Away in Hospital at Ft. Wayne - John E. Burkholder, age 65, 110 Ewing street, who has been employed at Fort Wayne for the past few years, died Tuesday morning at 11:30 o'clock at St. Joseph hospital, Fort Wayne, following a stroke of apoplexy. He had been a patient there for six days previous to his death. His body was brought overland to the Hammond Jackson mortuary and prepared for burial there. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon. Rev. E. O. Habegger, pastor of the Evangelical church, officiated. Burial was made in Mt. Zion cemetery, northwest of Denver. Mr. Burkholder, former school teacher and mail carrier, was an employee of the Bayer Grocery Co., Fort Wayne wholesale grocery. He came to Peru about 30 years ago from Denver. Mr. Burkholder was born December 25, 1863, son of Jacob and Susanna Burkholder. He was married at Denver January 26, 1887 to Hannah R Ege. Surviving besides the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Nellie M. Pearson, Kokomo and Mrs. Hazel Smith, Peru, and two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca See, 110 Ewing Street, and Mrs. Etta Walters, Nappanee, Ind.
