Wm F Wallick was born in Tuscorawas county, Ohio, January 28, 1842, died in Peru, Jan. 16,1873. Funeral services at the residence by Rev W L Huffman. The deceased came to this city with his parents, in early youth and spent the remainder of his life here. He entered the volunteer service soon after the rebellion broke out and was a member of the first company that went from Peru, of which he was elected Second Lieutenant. He was a brave solider and served with honorable distinction; although, after promotion to the first lieutenancey of his company, he was dismissed and remained for a little time under a cloud. The facts coming to the knowledge of the War Department, he was afterwards restored to his rank, honorably discharged, and brevetted a captain. He knew no fear, acknowledged no danger, and was frequently rash in acting upon the impulse of the moment. In 1867 he married the daughter of Wm. Hagee, Esq. [and Anna Groff], who with two children survives him. For several years the deceased had been considerably dissipated in his habits. While he had many noble qualities, his friends had to regret this indulgence. Intemperance is a stronger enemy than a hostile army: it blights the life of a young man and destroys his power for usefulness.       Additional Comments: Married 25 June 1868 to Anna Elizabeth Hagee (1840PA-1877IN) buried Mount Hope cemetery, bearing two known daughters, orphaned in 1877, Maude (1870IN-1940CO) who married W W Flora (1871KS-1922CO) had two known daughters Harriette Pearl (1893MO-1973CO) and Frances Elizabeth (1898MO-1928MO) and Pearle (1872IN-1930MN) married Albert D Jacobs (1874MI-1963MI) had one known son William Albert (1908MN-1977CA) http://community.webtv.net/billboggess/MYWEBSITES File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/in/miami/obits/w/wallick18ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/infiles/ File size: 2.5 Kb
