Mrs. Joan Williams, 19-year-old Anderson woman, who weighed only 100 pounds, fell on top of Mrs. Shields, receiving possible serious internal injuries. Coroner George Albright said that witnesses reported that the altercation occurred when Mrs. Williams went to the hotel to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Stevenson. She laid her purse down and a few moments later found a dollar missing. She questioned the 11-year-old son of Mrs. Shields, who also lived in the hotel. Mrs. Shields intervened. The women scuffled in a corridor and crashed through a window, falling to the paved alley. Mrs. Shields, a native-born Bloomingtonian, had left this city some five years ago to make her home in Anderson, where she has been employed in the Delco-Remy plant. She was the daughter of the late William and Levia McCullough. Her mother passed away only a year ago. The remains were returned to Bloomington today noon to the Allen mortuary where they will lie in state. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Allen chapel with Rev. Clyde Sciscoe officiating. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/in/monroe/newspapers/plungesf34gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/infiles/ File size: 2.0 Kb
