The Republican Progress, Wednesday, 12/19/1888
On Friday last Jas. Clendenin of Polk Twp.. went out in the woods to cut down 
an oak tree.  As he did not return at the proper time, a search was instituted 
and he was found dead, and crushed into the earth by a tree that he had 
felled.

Surname variations: CLENDENIN, CLENDENEN, CLENDENNING, CLENDENING.
James Brachey CLENDENIN was born Sept. 06, 1806 in Orange Co., North 
Carolina.  His first marriage was to Mary BREADLOVE in Orange Co., N. 
Carolina, Jan. 04, 1827 and ended with her death 1850 in Lawrence Co., 
Indiana.  His second marriage was to Harriet E. ALLEN on Jan. 01, 1853 in 
Monroe Co., Indiana, and ended with her death Mar. 18, 1886 in Monroe Co., 
Indiana.
