The Franklin Democrat, Friday, December 29, 1893
John Hammons [sic], an old settler of Morgan County, died at his home near
Martinsville Sunday 
evening.  He was eighty-four years old and had lived for sixty-three years in his
late home.  His 
funeral occurred Tuesday.
