LIGONIER.

A town in Noble county, on the Michigan Southern & Northern Indiana railroad,
one hundred and eight miles from Toledo. It is situated on the Elkhart river, in
the midst of a fine agricultural region, which gives a good support to the
place. A large amount of lumber is shipped from here, which brings in
considerable revenue annually. It has several fine churches, and good buildings
generally. It has a fine system of graded schools, &c., which speak well for the
moral and educational interests of the place. It now has a population of about
2,500, and a fair representation of the trades and professions.
