richard  e bender 63, of kendallville, died at 11:50pm Tuesday in Sara Lincoln
Hospital in Mattoon, IL from an apparent heart attack while on a business trip.
He was born in Avilla, on Nov. 4, 1931 to Lawrence and Anna (Case) Bender.  His
father is deceased but his mother survives.  On Nov 28,1964, in Angola, he
married Lois Johnston,, who also survives.
Mr.Bender was a superintendent for E&B Paving in Anderson and Peru and had
previously been with Reith-Riley Comstruction for 28 years.
Surviving with his wife and mother are four daughters, Judith Bender of
Louisville,Ky, Mrs. Jerry (Linda) Young and Jacqueline Bender, both of
Kendallville, and Anna Bender of Navare, Fl; four soms, Jerrold Bender and
his wife Wyinionia, Jeffrey Bender and his wife,Sue, Douglas Bender and
Thomas Bender all of Kendallville; two sisters, Mrs. William (Jean) Hulwick of
Wolcottville, and Mrs. James (Joan) Hausch of Sarasota,FL; two brothers, 
Ralph Bender of Kendallville and Roger Bender of Memphis, TN; and four grand-
children.
Memorial services will be at 1;30pm Friday in Hite Funeral Home,Kendallville,
with the Rev. Conrad Schweibold of Lae of the Woods Catholic Church 
officiating.
Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation is one hour before services on Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association.
