CAMPBELL FAMILY CEMETERY

                Orleans Township Section 19, T1N R1E. Abandoned.

     This little burial plot, abandoned and almost obliterated, is about 1 mile north of
     Orleans and a short distance east of state highway 37. The fence is down, cattle have
     grazed over it, the markers have fallen and are so broken that it is impossible to
     decipher some of the inscriptions, The land originally belonged to Robert Campbell,
     who came to Orange Co. from Kentucky in 1818, with his second wife and children.
     His will, probated May 27,1845, mentions a certain piece of land, set aside for a
     burying ground and reference is made to graves already there. The stones of Robert
     Campbell and his wife could not be found. The inscriptions were copied by Miss
     Josephine Lindsey, of Mitchell, Indiana.

             Note: William C. Campbell was a son of Samuel and Sinia Carr Campbell. He
     was
             born July 12, 1821. He and his third wife, Elizabeth Sheeks, are buried in
             Green Hill Cem., Orleans.
