GRAVE OF ELIJAH HAWHEE From the Cemetery Records compiled by the Lost River Chapter DAR Transcribed by Karen Hugo> Jackson Township Sec. 15, T-1-S, R-2-W Obliterated. In the northeast quarter of the section, on the Carter Parks farm, where the Hawhee family once lived, this stone was found leaning against a tree, evidently near the grave site, all trace of which is gone. Elijah Hawhee was killed during the Civil War, and a few months later his brother, William Smith Hawhee, was killed. The father brought the bodies home. Smith is buried at Moore’s Ridge Cemetery. Inscription on stone is viz: Elijah, son of A. and E. Hawhee Died 8 Oct 1862, age 19y/8m/21d. He was in Co. I. 38th Reg.
