Orange County Indiana Obituary of Jacob Krutsinger   Christian Record, p. 635, 20 August 1875   Jacob Krutsinger, the father of W. H. Krutsinger, ahs gone to his last resting place.  He expired August 20, 1875, at his old home on Orange County, Indiana, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 20 days.  He was born in North Carolina, and when quite young his father came to Tennessee, where young Jacob spent his bow and arrow days.  During his teens his father brought him to KY, and at the age of 21 he was located in the hoosier State, Orange County, Indiana, near where he breathed his last.  Jacob Krutsinger was of German descent, his father having come from beyond the sea.  The German was spoken in his father's family until they removed to Indiana; consequently the subject of this sketch was 21 years of age before he spoke anything except the German.  His occupation was that of a farmer, although he was a good blacksmith, at which he sometimes labored.  He was remarkable for good order and neatness, having a place for everything and everything in its place.  if he built a fence, it was true as a plumb; if he laid out a corn row, it was as straight as a line.  His education was very much neglected, as his father lived in the "deep-tangled, wild woods," rather than near a good schoolhouse.  However, he favored education and sought to advance his children in that direction.  Though a little irritable at times he had a large organ of reverence, and would often deeply regret that he was not better able to control himself. He embraced the Tunker faith, more familiarly known as Dunkards, and received the trine immersion, being put under the water three times face foremost.  Subsequently he came into the reformation in which faith he lived till death.  The following little stanze expresses, in a few words, an epitome of the good old gentleman's life:  "Reader, whosoever thou art What thy God had given impart." --------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
