The trial of James PATTERSON, for the killing of young WHITE, commenced yesterday. PATTERSON was once convicted, but the Supreme Court sent the case back for a second trial. HOWE of Worthington paid our city a visit Tuesday. W.T. SHELBORN shipped a car load of cattle to Indianapolis today. Lawyer William ECKLES, of Putnam County was in town Tuesday. Last Saturday, Buck BROWN was sentenced at Martinsville to eleven years in the penitentiary Rolla HARRIS has been engaged for another year by his old employers, at an advance in wages. A small child of J.W. BRIDGES, JR., now of Martinsville, one here, was very badly burned yesterday. Rev. L.R. BOOTH will preach at the Presbyterian Church room Sunday morning, 21st inst, 10 1-2 o’clock. Wm H. HARBAUGH, of Ohio, brother of Daniel HARBAUGH was here last week, and has decided to move to this county. Judge John C. ROBINSON has gone to Bedford to hold court in stead of Judge WILSON, who is sitting the bench here. Thomas, Arthur, John MCINDOO, Amos HEATON, of west part of county, came up in a breast Tuesday night and invested in the People. Many others are doing likewise.
