Death of Mrs. MCCARVER- Died Oct 23 at the Pryor House in Spencer, Mrs. MCcARVER,who had passed considerably her three score years and ten. Deceased was one of the early pioneers of Owen County, having settle on the farm now owned by D.C. NEWMEYER, in an earlier day. In common with all, she had her faults and her virtues. Her peculiar idiosyncradcies are well remembered by those of her intimate acquaintances, yet many were the hearts made glad by her ministrations in the hour of distress. She left this vicinity seven or eight years ago, residing a part of the time at Brazil, Clay County, but latterly at Oakland, Illinois. And returned to Spencer on the 15th of October, in a helpless, demented condition, not being able to give any intelligent account of herself, or how she came to return and was taken charge of by the overseer of the poor and cared for as best she could be until death ended her suffering. It is rumored that she had been deserted and left to die, when it is probable that her thoughts turned to the kind friends she had known in and around Spencer, whither she made her way but the journey being too great for her, her mind and body both gave way, and she only came to linger awhile and die. She had been a member of the M.E. church, and according her notion of Christianity, she endeavored to live out that profession.
