[Transcribed 10 Jan 2006, SLJuhl] There is a side story: When Dorothy was readied after her death for transport from Santa Barbara, CA. to Indiana for her funeral and burial, her daughter Joan left California at the same time, and expected Dorothy in her casket to arrive at the same airport at nearly the same time in Indianapolis, IN. ; However, when Joan and Joyce (dau.'s) inquired at the Indianapolis Airport if Dorothy had arrived on time, she had been lost! Her casket was not transported on the same plane as her daughter had been on. The plane that Dorothy was on had been re-routed to another destination-Canada. It took some time and some tense negotiations, but Dorothy was eventually found, and did arrive on time for her services that were scheduled for Tuesday morning. Later, from a nervous release, the comment was made: "Mother was almost late to her own funeral. And knowing Mother, if she were aware of things, she would have gotten a laugh out of what happened."
