Mr. Farner with other workmen were blasting rock using dynamite. They had just put in a charge and he thought the fuse had gone out and began to venture near and was warned by his companions. As he neared the hole where the charge had been placed, the explosion occurred. It lifted him six feet off the ground, blew one arm into shreds and tore the fingers off his other hand and destroyed his eyesight. As his wife is very low with consumption it is feared the shock may be fatal to her. He was taken to the home of Harry Allen who lives near the Crusher. After a few hours of untold agony, death relieved him of his suffering. When his wife was told of his death she replied it would not be long before she would be with him. He leaves a four year old daughter." Note: No death certificate has been found. He was buried: Wolf Creek Cemetery, near Wallace, and Grange Corner, Indiana." [Transcribed by, sljuhl, 07 Jan 2005].
