TELL CITY.

An enterprising town in Perry county, and on the Ohio river, one hundred and
twenty miles from Louisville and seventy-two from Evansville. It was settled in
1854 by a Swiss Colonization Society, which purchased 12,000 acres, and divided
it into eight hundred shares at thirty dollars per share; no one being allowed
more tnan two shares. It has a large furniture factory, chair factory, planing
mill, woolen mill, distillery, brewery, several saw mills, etc. Population about
2,000.
