The old gentleman had been a severe sufferer from rheumatism for about five years and lost rapidly during the last few weeks. His age was 78 years 5 months and 7 days. He was born in Germany, coming to this country when a lad of about twelve years. For forty-six years he had been a resident of Tippecanoe township, and was numbered among its most substantial citizens. His wife died about eleven years ago, but he is survived by four sons and one daughter - Henry of Iowa, William of Oregon, Michael of Ohio, Otto of Monterey and Mrs. Mary Crist with whom he lived. All of the children except the son in Oregon were here for the funeral, which was held Friday afternoon at St. Ann's church at Monterey, with services by Rev. B. Loongen. Interment was given in the Catholic cemetery at Monterey.
