RIDGEVILLE.
An enterprising town in Randolph county, nine miles from Winchester, the county
seat. It is situated in a beautiful and rich country, but made slow progress
until within the last two years, during which time the Columbus, Chicago &
Indiana Central railroad has been completed through the place and given it a new
impetus, and it now has a good representation of the different trades and
professions, several church organizations, fine schools, two hotels, several
mills, manufactories, &c. Population about 600. The Ridgeville College, a
flourishing institution under the patronage of the Free Will Baptists, is
located here.
